Expert Patients Programme
Control your condition. Don't let it control you

The Expert Patients Programme (EPP for short) is a FREE course designed for adults living with any long-term health condition(s) such as arthritis, epilepsy, MS, diabetes, heart disease, ME, Parkinson's disease and back pain.
EPP is run by Community Interest Company and aim to help you to take more control of your health by learning new skills to manage your condition better on a daily basis.
EPP courses are run by people who have personal experience of a long term health condition - people who really understand the day to day problems and how to meet the challenges. They help others to learn new skills, and gain the confidence and knowledge to manage and live with their condition.
Courses are free, run once a week over a six week period and cover the following areas:
- Managing your illness and symptoms
- Dealing with pain and fatigue
- Learning how to get the most out of your life
- Understanding the importance of healthy eating
- Planning for the future
- Communicating effectively with health professionals, family and friends
- Meet others facing similar challenges in their lives
- Share ideas for solving problems

By taking part in an EPP CIC course you will:

‘Looking After Me’ Courses For Carers
Looking After Me is a free six week course of self-management workshops for adults who care for someone living with a long term health condition or disability. This course, also run by CIC, allows carers to make time to look after their own health needs, and is led by tutors who themselves have personal experience of caring for a relative. The course aims to help carers develop new skills to help them cope with their caring situation and to develop the confidence to take more control over their lives. They also meet others who share similar experiences.
