Smoking Advice Service

About The Service

The Oxfordshire Smoking Advice Service was established in August 2000. It is based on the principles outlined in the white paper" Smoking Kills" (1998), the Oxfordshire Tobacco Strategy and Health Improvement Programme. The Oxfordshire Smoking Advice Service delivers a free, comprehensive service for stopping smoking.

Since it was established nearly 50,000 Oxfordshire smokers have either seen a smoking cessation adviser at their surgery, attended a Smoke Stop course or accessed our specialist services. In 2009/10 a total of 3,355 smokers made a quit attempt with the help of the above services and 58% of these people were successfully quit one month later.
