Health and social care touches everyone at some point. This gives CQC a powerful and highly responsible role in people's lives. CQC will from the 1 April 2009, bring together the work of the Commission for Social Care Inspection, the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Act Commission, creating for the first time an independent regulator of health, mental health and adult social care in England.
